Rolex Explorer II 226570 (Black/White) – Authentic Natural Light Comparison

Clean Factory Model 226570, ‘Explorer II Gen.2’ (colloquially ‘Exp II’), powered by the Dandong Caliber 3285. This release features two variants: black dial and white dial.

The standout feature is the proprietary Dandong-made Caliber 3285 — identical in specification to the one used in Rolex’s reference 126710, yet specially enlarged for the 226570. Notably, the date window position differs from that of the 126710 — a detail historically misreplicated across the market. Due to the Explorer II’s relatively niche status, movement manufacturers were reluctant to undertake custom development for this unique size; Clean successfully collaborated with Dandong Movement Factory over more than a year to realize this bespoke caliber.

Additional refinements include: distinct bezel font styling; clear differentiation between references 226570 and 216570; upgraded movement; consistent 42mm case diameter; refined case architecture; redesigned hands; and adjusted bezel font weight.

Regarding bezel typography: the black-dial variant replicates the vintage slim font found on original older black-dial Explorers, while the white-dial version (purchased new in 2023) faithfully reproduces the contemporary bold font.
